It’s a Transformers Bumble Bee Theme for my son

My son turns 5 today and we had an early birthday party last weekend. It was a small gathering of about 20 adults and 5 kids and wanted to do something special for my little guy.

He is in love with transformers and wanted a transformers themed party. His favorite transformer being Bumble Bee we decided to go with a Black and Yellow theme. I started planning this months ago because I wanted to attempt a dessert table.

I see so many beautiful dessert tables for birthday parties on pPnterest and I was itching to try it. Being a small party I thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what I could do. I started by designing the invitation card which I had my son approve before I continued. Then I designed the rest of the printables which included a banner, party circles and thank you tags.

Next I wrote down what I wanted on the dessert table and then sketched out what I wanted it to look like. Minimalism is what I was aiming for and I think I achieved that with help from supplies I bought at PartyStock.ca and Party City.

I made the cake myself using Bakerella’s recipe a friend sent me. Amazing cake and frosting! I got nothing but compliments.

I made a 9″ two layered cake. Covered in white fondant which I coloured yellow. The black details were cut from a black sugar sheet that I bought from Michaels. I printed the transformers symbol on paper, cut out the shapes and used them as the stencil to cut out the pieces for the cake. Assembled the parts like a puzzle.

I got chocolate covered pretzel rods made by local talent Tammy’s Unique Creations. She made some with black sprinkles and some with yellow. Excellent quality and they tasted amazing!

Black sixlets and yellow gumballs were perfect in these containers I found. I pasted some party circles on the containers to dress them up a bit.

I made the cake pops using paper straws which I cut in half to use as the pop sticks and just covered them in yellow candymelts. The cookies were made by another local talent Cookies by Kathy. She does amazing work!

I had little white paper bags which I glued the thank you tags onto to serve as the take home bags for the goodies.

In the end almost all the cake was done and everyone took home some treats. We had a pinata full of loot bag goodies for the kids so they were really happy with all the trinkets they ended up with. Thanks to all for making my first dessert table a success :) My birthday was the next day and I was feeling good about it all lol.
